Basic Rules

Dushore Founders Day Celebration

Competition is open to ages 16 and above; all artists, be they amateur, student or professional. Trophies & Monetary Prizes will be awarded day of Founders Day Activities and then top winning Seats will be displayed at participating businesses around Dushore for an undisclosed period of time. Monetary prizes : First place $50.00 Second place $25.00 Third place $20.00 Honorable Mention $10.00 .

Winners will be decided by popular vote that day of the Outhouse Races. Please vote for your top three favorites! Free to vote!

ONLY the official white wooden seat provided by JMB Supply may be entered. Pick up the Entry form & Seat from Jolly Trolley, Westside Deli, or J MB Supply. $10.00 Entry fee per seat entered.

FEE must be paid at time of PICKUP.

Fill out entry form when you pick up official contest seat at Jolly Trolley, West Side Deli or JMB Supply. Or download form from www.karensart.net Click on Toilet Seat contest on left hand side. Proceeds from contest will be used to help promote and continue the Founders Day Children’s Art Show & Activities held annually at the Sullivan Terrace Community Room and the continuation of this contest.
Entrants can submit as many times as they would like ($10 fee applies for each submittal). Official Seats can be shipped to entrant for the cost of shipping and handling plus entry fee if unable to pick up in person. Other seats cannot be substituted. Only entries painted on official seats will be accepted. All work must be completed by person on entry form

Seat artwork is to be created with some type of paint only. Textured paint will be allowed. No 3-D embellishments permitted. Stickers, rickrack, lace, seashells are not allowed. Artwork should be sealed with a waterproof layer as they will be displayed outside the day of the race rain or shine. All seats will be pre-judged as to meeting criteria of competition.
Remember seats not winning a prize will be auctioned off to help cover expenses of Dushore Founders Day.

Seats DO NOT have to depict out houses or a historical scene. Seats DO NOT have to have lettering on them. If you want to put lettering on the seat and cannot paint lettering freehand.. as long as the lettering is hand done with an ink or paint pen will be accepted. NO stickers or rub on stencils or cutouts allowed.

Each seat will be displayed by a number. No names will appear until after the public has voted for their favorites and the decisions have been finalized. Winners will be announced after voting stops but prior to races.

Auction will be held at 6PM BEFORE the races!

Signatures of entrant must not appear on front of seat but can be signed underneath the lid or on back or signatures will have to be covered day of competition. Auction will occur prior to the Outhouse Race.

Registration for contest opens April 1st

Deadline is the last friday in July. All entries must be in the hands of the coordinator, Karen Black before that day. Please return it with the original box so when it is sold at auction it will have it's box. Any late arrivals will not be judged. Seats will be displayed at the Jolly Trolley until voting time.

All seat entries and their images become the property of the Dushore Founders Day Committee and can be used for promotion and advertising of future events. Monies from auction help to support the Children’s Art Show and activities at the Sullivan Terrace Community Room and this contest.

Trophies will be given for Best of Show, first runner-up and Second Runner-up and Honorable Mention. Prizes are $50, $25, $20 and $10 respectively.
