First Coloring Book

 How this book come about....

See News page for vendors...

Once upon a time.. I wanted to send something a little nicer than plain old faxes to a sales lady named Ray. So I started drawing sketches in the open spaces... dragons, ducklings, office humor, roses. It became quite a tradition for a while. Many thanks has to go to Ray because she enjoyed those sketches so much she asked me to make some sketches for her niece to color.... and then I made some sketches for my own nephews ...then the idea came. And with a little encouragement from a friend... it all started to come together.

The sketches were actually the easy part. Laying out the book to the correct number of pages and then getting all the foot work done was the time consuming thing. And let me tell ya... finding the right publisher wasn't easy either! Thanks goes to Angela and everyone else at Fundpublishing!

So a little less than a year went by.... and then voila! A coloring book hot of the presses. Pretty cool!

Each sketch has a special meaning, too. If you know this area you might just recognize some of the places, but the scenes I picked are so universal to the entire region of PA that I did not name them in the book. There are so many lakes to canoe in like Eagles Mere Lake, or many wonderful covered bridges like the one found in Forksville. Find a map and go visit them. Each are unique. The creek in the book could have been one of the hundreds of great fishing spots anywhere, but I live close to the Loyalsock. The sketch's exact location is a secret. The Country Store on Rte 42 is indicative of the many quaint shops to be found in this area. A farm along Rte. 87 and the cows from a neighbor's farm could also be from any county... Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan, Susqhehanna, Wayne, Wyoming. Any of these and more. Farm Country is precious! Buy local produce when you can. The blue heron and other native wildlife represent the mighty Susquehanna River. Take time to visit for a whole day so you can see the wildlife come and go along the shore. The domestic animals remind us that we all live with nature in one way or the other : a friend's cat and birdhouses in a tree, and Bob the horse, from a dear friend of mine. How could I forget the hummingbirds and sunflowers, representing my mom & dad's gardens! Or the rabbits eating the peas from my own garden....

Pick one up today and enjoy the sketches but also learn about the animals and places that make our Endless Mountains such a great place to live!

And if you know how to use a scanner.. email a picture of one that you colored and I'll post in the childrens gallery!!
